Assam Veterinary & Fishery University was constituted as a new university specializing in veterinary and fishery sciences vide The Assam Veterinary and Fishery University Bill, 2024, passed by the Assam Assembly. The AVFU has been created with the constituent colleges viz., College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara campus, Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, North Lakhimpur campus and College of Fisheries, Raha campus, Livestock Research Station, Mandira and Goat Research Station, Burnihat.

Eligibility Criteria of Undergraduate Degree Programmes
Educational Qualification:
B.V.Sc. & A.H.: Must have passed 10+2 examination/Higher Secondary/Intermediate examination with Biology, Chemistry , Physics & English with 50 % marks in Aggregate for Gen/OBC/UPS (47.5% for SC/ST/DAC in aggregate).
B.F.Sc.: Must have passed 10+2 examination/Higher Secondary/Intermediate examination with Biology, Chemistry , Physics & English with 50% marks For Gen/OBC/UPS category & 40 % for SC/ST/DAC category.
Age Limit: A candidate for undergraduate degree programme shall be at least 17 years of age as on 01-08-2026 (i.e. must have been born before 01-08-2009) for BFSc degree programme.
Application Fee: All candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs. 1500/- using Payment Gateway at the time of submission of online application.
Selection Process
Selection and admission of candidates is strictly on the basis of merit of Common entrance test score for the candidates belonging to the domicile of Assam. The date(s) of subsequent counselling shall be notified in AAU and AVFU-website along with the list of eligible candidates.
The wards of defence /para-military personnel posted in the State of Assam for at least one year are also eligible.
The Common Entrance Test will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). The duration of the test will be 2 hours for 160 numbers of Multiple Choice Questions consisting 40 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.
