Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme 2026

The Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme, also known as Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni, is a major welfare scheme of the Govt. of Assam aimed at encouraging girl students to continue their education and pursue higher studies. The scheme also seeks to reduce the dropout rate among girl students across the state.

Under this scheme, eligible female students studying at the Higher Secondary, Graduation and Postgraduate levels in government and provincialized educational institutions are provided with monthly financial assistance. The financial support is intended to help students continue their studies and reduce the financial burden on their families.

The Government of Assam initially approved and announced the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme in August 2024. The scheme was formally rolled out on October 6, 2024, with the ceremonial distribution of financial assistance to eligible girl students.

The Nijut Moina Scheme 2.0 for the year 2026 has officially resumed with the launch of the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni Application Form Distribution Programme on 6th August 2026 in Guwahati. Students who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria can collect and submit the application form through their respective educational institutions by following the official guidelines and procedures.

Nijut Moina Scheme 2026 Details

Name of scheme: Assam Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni (MMNM)

Beneficiary: Eligible girl students domiciled in Assam

Objectives of Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni

The Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme has been introduced with the following key objectives:

  • To encourage more girls to pursue higher education and increase their enrollment in colleges and other higher educational institutions.
  • To improve the number of girls continuing their education beyond matriculation across Assam.
  • To reduce the dropout rate among girl students by providing financial support for their education.
  • To improve the overall Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education across the state.
  • To discourage child marriage by encouraging girls to remain in education and pursue further studies.

Eligibility Criteria of Nijut Moina Scheme

Eligibility criteria for Nijut Moina Scheme 2.0 are as follows:
  • It is applicable to only girl students.
  • The applicant must be a domiciled resident of Assam.
  • The scheme is open to all eligible girl students irrespective of their economic status.
  • Must be enrolled in Govt. and Venture Educational Institutions in Higher Secondary First Year, Graduation (B.A./B.Sc/B.Com) First Year and Post-Graduation (M.A./M.Sc/M.Com/B. Ed) First Year. 

Who can’t Apply for Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme ?

The following categories of students are not eligible to receive benefits under the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme:

  • Daughters of MPs, MLAs or Ministers.
  • Married girl students, except those pursuing Postgraduate (PG) or B.Ed. courses, where this condition does not apply.
  • Girl students who have already received benefits under the or Banikantha Kakati Award Scheme.
  • Girl students studying in private colleges, universities or schools.
  • In-service students pursuing the course while already employed.

Benefits of Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni

Eligible girl students are provided with monthly financial assistance based on their level of study. The amount is transferred directly to the student’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system for a maximum of 10 months in an academic year. No assistance is payable during June, July, summer vacation, winter break, etc or any other vacation for more than one month.

How to Apply for Nijut Moina Scheme ?

Interested and eligible students can apply for the Nijut Moina Scheme by following the steps given below:

  • Collect the application form from your educational institution or the designated distribution centre.
  • Read the instructions carefully and fill in your personal, educational and bank account details correctly.
  • Attach the required documents with the duly completed application form.
  • Submit the application form to your institution within the prescribed deadline.
  • The Registrars/Principals will verify the details and supporting documents submitted by the applicant through their respective portals and submit the correct data for auto verification in the portal.
  • Once the application is successfully verified and approved, the monthly financial assistance will be transferred directly to the registered bank account through DBT.
  • From the second year onwards, there is no requirement for submitting an application. A certificate from the head of the institution, certifying the student’s continuity in the institution will be sufficient for availing benefits.

Applicants are required to submit the documents specified by their respective educational institutions while applying for the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Asoni. The documents generally required for the application include the following:

  • Duly filled application form.
  • 10th Marksheet and Pass Certificate. (As applicable)
  • 12th Marksheet and Pass Certificate. (As applicable)
  • Degree Marksheet and Pass Certificate. (As applicable)
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Aadhaar Card of Girl Student.
  • Mobile Number.
